Relaxation

Today's society can be stressful. Work life, family life and the demands put upon us make it difficult sometimes to find time for quality relaxation. The effect of stress on our physical selves is well-documented - many adverse physical processes can be triggered by our mental state. Even low levels of stress can lead to psychological changes such as depression, anxiety, confusion and sleep or sexual problems. It is important for stress to be treated and relaxation can be an antidote for this.

When we truly relax, our bodies have time to heal and recover. Relaxation allows us to step back from stressful situations, to have a clearer view and, although it will not remove stress and anxiety triggers completely, relaxation will help to put things into perspective, release tension and clear your thoughts, enabling you to deal with things in a better way.

It is important to relax both the body and the mind and this is a fundamental part of hypnotherapy. During hypnosis, you will be taken through a process of relaxing your body, typically a form of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) in which you will systematically relax your muscles one by one. You will then be encouraged to relax your mind through visualisation and metaphors. As your breathing becomes slow and steadier and your mind clears of the daily clutter, you should find yourself drifting into a deep state of relaxation. Most clients find this process extremely calming and refreshing! I can provide you with a relaxation CD that you can use at home whenever you wish.
